BLISTERING
CAUSES
Blistering is caused by moisture in the shingle. Either the
shingle is breaking down and not performing the way it should or
there may have been moisture trapped in the shingle during the manufacturing
process.
Bad ventilation, leaking and other common moisture infiltration
can cause blistering as well. In essence the moisture has made its
way into one of the layers of the shingle and the shingles are rotting
and decaying from the inside out. These small areas can eventually
grow to larger areas called rotting.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Replace the shingles in areas that have blisters with
new shingles. If you have larger areas in the roof that has blistering
chances are that there are more areas rotting that you can not see
yet. In such a case it is time to consider replacing your entire
roof. If your area or home is susceptible to moisture the you will
want to use a Fiberglas Mat shingle as opposed to an organic. Fiberglas
Mat will not rot in this way.
You will want to contact the manufacture of the roof shingles that
are blistering. This may fall under your manufactures warranty.
If so, the manufacturer may owe you an entirely new roof.
